The political status of Taiwan is a difficult issue. There are 2 countries in the world that call themselves China. The People’s Republic of China (PRC) also known as mainland China and The Republic of China (ROC) otherwise known as Taiwan. Today, most countries officially recognize PRC as China while maintaining close economic and cultural relationship with Taiwan. However, this is why you won’t find official embassies of many countries in Taiwan.

In case you lose your passport while visiting Taiwan:
1. Report the incident promptly at any Police Station.
2. Approach your embassy or representative office to apply for a replacement.
