Wulai District, located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and rich indigenous culture. It offers hot springs, lush forests, and waterfalls, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and wellness seekers. Visitors can explore the traditional Atayal culture. First, the small yet exquisite Neidong National Forest Recreation Area is a fern paradise situated at the upstream of Nanshih Creek, a great place for one to enjoy the greenery and serenity. Located at an elevation between 230 to 800 meters, it is warm and humid with Neidong creek flowing through, making it a true paradise for ferns: one will find up to 65 species of ferns including the rare Weeping Phlegmariurus and Lomariopsis cochinchinensis. All of these are delicate guests clinging onto tree trunks. Neidong used be referred to as “Wawa Valley”, thanks to the echoes of an army of frogs croaking at night in the valley. In fact, you may find frogs in the trench beside the trail! While walking along the trail, you will be replenished with abundant negative ions and phytoncides. Second, we will take you to have lunch in the restaurants. Due to personal preferences and tastes being different, it will be some options. Third, taking the cable car ride to the entrance of Yun-Shien Park. The only way to get to the park is to take the cable car within 2 minutes. The park has a lake for boating, archery court and traditional Atayal outdoor dancing performance. Yun Hsien Park also introduces different eco themes each month, including viewings of wild orchids, birds, cherry blossoms, fireflies, frogs and insects. The activities are varied and interesting, especially in May during the firefly season. Note: There's no extra entrance fee when entering the Park. However, some of the activities in Yun-Hsien Park will occur extra charge (optional). Forth, after leaving from the stop of the Yun-Shien Park cable car, it will be riding the sightseeing trolley. The sightseeing trolley used to be an important transfer transportation of woods before 1963. You will see the natural beauty of Wulai and feel the fresh when taking the trolley. Fifth, we take a walk in the Wulai old street. It provides a glimpse into local crafts and tribal cuisine, enhancing the area's cultural appeal. You may taste the local Atayal tribal food here, such as makauy sausage, millet wine and steamed bamboo rice. Where you can also spend some time buying souvenirs. Sixth, we will visit the Wulai Atayal Museum established in 2005, which is also located in the old street. This museum introduced the life and culture of Atayals.
