Lao Mian Cheng Lantern Shop

Dihua Street is known for it's endless stalls of Chinese medicinal products, herbs and incense, but one of the more unique stops is Lao Mian Cheng Lantern Shop. This small shop opened nearly a century ago, but did not start out in the lantern business.  Originally they sold spirit money to be burned in offerings, but have since transitioned into paper lanterns.  Each lantern is hand-painted with a variety of styles and colors to choose from.  The collapsible internal frame makes them easy to take home as souvenirs for friends and family. This is a must visit place when you are strolling along Dihua Street.
