Baishawan (White Sand Beach -白沙灣) is one of the better beaches around the Taipei area, although don't expect the same quality as you'd get in Thailand or the Philippines but still very enjoyable, beautiful, a great get-away from the city but not too far to get to. It is located just off of the North Coast Road (Highway 2), north of Danshui. There are tent rentals available, as well as both hot and cold showers.
The easiest way to reach the beach is via the North Coast Shuttle Bus, which can be boarded at MRT Danshui Station. The shuttle bus costs NT$100 for a one-day pass. It departs every hour on weekdays and every half hour on weekends. Baishawan is a public beach and admission is free.
