Herb Market, Cing Cao Alley

Taipei

Markets

This tiny market (萬華青草巷) consists of dozens of Chinese medicine stores and stands huddled in a narrow alley next to Longshan Temple. The place used to be known as 'Life-saving street' and is a hub of local herbal trade. The traditional herbal medicines and their preparations have been widely used in Taiwan as well as in other Asian countries.

Abundant in various herbal aids and potions, this tiny market has a reputation for high-quality products and ready-to-use natural remedies. It is a perfect stop-off for sightseers and anyone who has just visited the temple.  Take note, the market is closed on Sunday!
