This very old temple is located a few minutes walk from Jingmei MRT station. Although only one of the attractions among the sprawling Jingmei night market, it is well worth seeking out: as arguably the oldest temple in Taipei it is steeped in history.
Originally built about 400 years ago as a shrine to local deities by the farming communities that lived in the area, Jiying Temple has seen many worshipers come and go. It is rather large and packed to the rafters with artifacts of religious and cultural significance. Make sure to observe proper etiquette when visiting, the monks on duty are usually quite strict.
