National Museum of History

This wonderful museum houses some of the most amazing art you will ever see and exhibits Chinese historical items. Covering five thousand years of cultural history, strolling through its halls is like strolling through history. The collection is unrivaled by any other, mainly because many of China's artifacts were destroyed during the mainland's Cultural Revolution.

Of particular notice is the collection from the Tang dynasty period: the pieces are generally around 1500 years old, but look brand new. For anyone interested in art and history this museum is the place to go. Keep an eye out for the changing exhibitions too, and occasionally the museum is able to attract some interesting overseas pieces.
