One of Taipei's most famous tourist attractions, the Taipei Zoo is definitely a must-visit for visitors to this multifarious metropolis. Yes - everyone!  With so many displays and areas to choose from, there will be a lot of 'oohs and aahs' over different animal species. Watch how the penguins dance, the pandas sleep, the elephants eat nibble at nuts, insects fly, birds chirp, and more! Maps are available for download and available on site.

One of Taipei's most famous acquisitions has been the giant panda, Yuan Yuan, who inhabits the local zoo. If that wasn't enough of a drawcard, Yuan Yuan recently gave birth to the panda cub Yuan Zai, who has been available for visitors' viewing since September of 2014.

This is a great destination for a family outing, as Taipei Zoo makes an effort to integrate educational zoological elements into the visitors' experience. Children can read up about the animals at each habitat, watch a presentation given at the zoo or visit the educational centre. Take a break in the fern garden and enjoy some snacks sold here, or your own packed picnic. Lazing on the lawns, surrounded by exotic animals, sure makes for a memorable lunch.

Before heading there, make sure your camera is fully charged. Better yet, take an extra battery with you, as it can be a long day with tons and tons of moments to capture. Weekends and holidays are packed since the locals can't get enough of this place.
