Barcode
Taipei
A swanky cocktail bar, smug with social status, Barcode is on the fifth floor of the chic NEO19 building, in Xinyi shopping district. Like most of the night clubs in the Taipei 101 area, Barcode is suave in decor and door policy. A stunner of a city view and live DJs spinning house, jazz, funk and lounge beats, Barcode is brimming with sartorial, young professionals. Entrance is usually free but patrons are pressed to purchase drinks - a little more pricey, but nothing unusual for the Taipei 101 area.
The bar staffed are well versed in the finer spirits of the high shelves and will gladly shake up any cocktail you ask for. Though there is some pomp and circumstance about this bar, so the cocktail requests of the more cosmopolitan nature are met with more enthusiasm from the bar.
Barcode attracts a crowd of trendy, out-to-be-seen types looking to indulge in attentive service and a premier view. The patrons are a good mix of expats, out-of-towners and locals. A short walk from Brown Sugar and the myriad of Xinyi district clubs surrounding the ATT4FUN building, Barcode is an excellent way to begin an evening.
The indoor balcony and cushy interior offers booths, private rooms and a smaller bar, which can be booked at a small fee. A good mix of locals, ex-pats and visitors, with a splash of the odd celebrity, Barcode is a place to be seen, open Sunday to Thursday from 8PM until 2:30AM and Friday and Saturday from 9PM to 3AM. Barcode is situated nearest Taipei City Hall Station MRT station.
