Guandu Temple

This temple is not just lovely in and of itself, it also offers lovely views of the estuary and the mangrove swamps lining it. The temple itself is dedicated to Matsu, a very popular deity in and around Tamsui as she is mistress of the sea and protectress op fishermen.

The temple is easy to reach from Guandu MRT station, and thus attracts many worshipers. Because it is so lively, with a great many stalls outside selling religious necessities such as offers of money, it is a wonderful place to see religious observance in action. Of course, visitors are urged to observe temple etiquette at all times.
