Yingge Ceramics Museum

Located in the suburb of Yingge, the Ceramics Museum boasts an ultra-modern building that houses some of Taiwan's oldest examples of its native crafts. Though at first glance the subject matter of the museum is only interesting for the most hardened aficionados, it is in fact very accessible, with all exhibits explained in impeccable English.

The museum is set up in such a way that during the tour of the history of Taiwanese pottery, you also gain insight in the cultural and economic history of the isle. For anyone who is interested in Taiwan beyond the glitzy exterior, this museum is very much recommended.
