Beer and Cheese
Taipei
No false advertising in the name. Beer and Cheese sells an enormous range of artisnal beers - which special attention paid to American craft beer. On the cheese side, you'll see a selection of grilled cheese sandwiches - the delicious is in the detail, think jalapeños, pickles and freshly baked bread. Also tempting tastebuds are the beer and cheese pairings of the day and rosemary pretzels, serving with a tangy dip - wondrously good with beers, beer cocktails or a cider you'd be hardpressed to find elsewhere in Taipei.
Beer and Cheese is a beautiful little bar that boasts the friendliest bar service in Taipei. The bar itself is situated on JianGuo Sout road, just across from Daan Park and Taipei's Daan Park MRT station, on the red metro line. This is a homey little spot, with smiley service and a welcomingly unassuming interior. Dark furnishings and and simple decor add a casual comfort to this beer haven - a laidback but classy little place, best for intimate beers and a bite with a group of friends.
The artisinal beers are happily affordable too, offering brews on tap or by the bottle. Beer and Cheese have daily specials, with house pints going for just $220NTD and litre beers sold for as little as $300NTD every 'Big Beer Tuesday'. Better yet, ask the bar staff and have them pick out just the beer to satisfy your cravings. From 'floral' to 'malty', we've had our whimsical requests met without much trouble in this lovely bar. Or, if you really aren't too much turned onto the beer, Beer and Cheese does comprimise with some beer-based cocktails, classic cocktails, alcoholic slushies, wine and a few nifty spirits.
Take note the owners are a North American team, so you're more likely to catch an ice hockey match here than a round of rugby or cricket. Check out the Beer and Cheese facebook page for information abou their upcoming events and latest thirst-quenching specials.
