Box
Taipei
For those unfamiliar with the seductive and sordid workings of Taipei's all-you-can-drink clubs, Box is the baptism by fire.
Box is situated just outside of Guting MRT station exit 4 (beside Starbucks on Roosevelt Road) and a stones' throw from the student shopping haven of Shida nightmarket. Box is better remembered by Taipei veterans as Wax. Newly renovated, Box keeps the spirit of this club, but none of the grime.
In line with its location, Box draws a younger student crowd with drink specials, neon lights and energetic tracks blasting through the bass-heavy speakers by local DJs. Music tends to be leaning towards radio hit remixes - mostly Hip-Hop and poppy EDM. Those hankering for the underground scene won't find their musical medicine here. But the brazen crowd is frisky and festive for a night of booze-fuelled dance floor antics. Fun-loving, youthful patrons make box a great place to let loose - with all-you-can-drink specials to assist in the unravelling process.
Box is open Wednesday night through Saturday night 'til 4AM and opens with a bang on it's busy Wednesday Ladies' Night - all you can drink with entry. Ladies' night entry is $200 for women and $600 for men, but Box also welcomes foreigners with a discounted entry of $350 for foreign guys and $100 for foreign gals before midnight. If going with a big group, it may be worth it to spend a few extra dollars on reserving a table. While a table at Box is certainly no high-flier experience, it does mean that you have staff serving you and saving you the suffering of queues at the crowded bar.
