Riverside Live House is the a great place to seek out Taipei's burgeoning musical talent. This small, friendly venue charges $400 entrance fee on some nights and is free on others. The lineup at Riverside Live House usually features a host of Taiwanese celebs or lesser-known, local talent - a great place to get a feel for Taiwan's indie music scene. Surrounding by the buzzing Ximending nightlife, the live music attracts a late night crowd. Just next door you'll find Riverside Music Cafe. The more intimate Riverside Music Cafe puts on smaller scale events, also in the name of promoting upcoming Taiwanese artists.
Occupying a building constructed during the Japanese colonial era, the space itself is captivating and acts as a well-suited backdrop to the artistic patrons it attracts. The actual location of Riverside Live House is vast. This live music venue occupies two storeys of the famous Red House Theatre, located just outside of Ximending MRT station. Within the venue there is plenty of seating as well as an abundance of standing space, for those who prefer to stand and jive during shows. The Ximending Riverside Live House also has a fully stocked bar.
Although the main branch of Riverside Live House is located in Ximending, there are two smaller venues that originally made the name Riverside Live House famous in Taipei. These two smaller venues are in Taipei's student districts, nearby NTU campus, and are located nearby Gongguan and Taipower MRT stations.
