La Mesa
Taipei
There are an abundance of Tapas restaurants in Taipei. In fact, when it comes to Taipei restaurants this word should come with a bit of a warning label: it is often misused to describe restaurants serving light meals, pub grub and fried finger foods. Be sure to check the credentials when venturing into an unfamiliar tapas bar in Taipei. La Mesa however, stands out as an authentic Tapas restaurant and certainly one of Taipei's best.
With so many delicious items to choose from on the menu, La Mesa has it's patrons plotting their next visit and exploration through the menu, from the minute they've placed their order.
Cous cous, paella, bruschetta ... La Mesa's menu is eurocentric and can be best enjoyed by those visiting the restaurant in big groups, able ot order and share a variety of dishes.
La Mesa is a comfortable two-floor tapas restaurant in Taipei's Xinyi district. The first floor has a long bar, a few tables and an open-concept kitchen. The bar features Hoegaarden on tap and some of the best sangria in the city. The second floor is a larger dining area with plenty of room to accommodate groups.
La Mesa has some of the most flavorful Spanish food in the city. The beef carpaccio, the chorizo in cider and garlic, the fresh mussels and the paella are among the favorites. La Mesa has generally gotten rave reviews since it burst onto Taipei's tapas scene in 2012. Its dishes are full of flavor and won't disappoint you.
