Le Bistro de L'Olivier
Taipei
Taipei foodies speak of Le Bistro de L'Olivier with reverence. Upholding the reputation of Southern French cuisine, the fine dining restaurant specialises in traditional French dishes - duck, rosemary rack of lamb and steak tartare, to name a few. There are no knock-offs to be found here, down to the delightful cottage feel of this French bistro, everything is done in the way of the French. Except, thankfully, the sunny service (hehe).
Le Bistro de L'Olivier is owned by Taiwanese food personality Maggie Liu - who has featured on Discovery Channel and TLC as food presenter. Maggie also owns the Pot Pie Cafe. This chef and food personality, is passionate about French cuisine. So much so that she gives away her recipes on her website and sells many of the products, used in her cuisine, in-store.
Be warned that in an effort to maintain authenticity of the cuisine from the South of France, Maggie has spared no expense in seeking out the right ingredients - many of which are imported. This doesn't come cheap and so prices here are steep. Still, dining at Le Bistro de L'Olivier is regularly regarded as worth every penny, for fulfilling the promise of truly French food.
This restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, in Daan, near Luizhangli MRT Station. To enjoy some of the delights of Le Bistro de L'Olivier without the full burden of the bill, perhaps visit in the afternoon to enjoy a slightly cheaper lunch time set menu.
