Mazendo
Taipei
Just 'round the corner from Taipei's Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall and Sun Yat-Sen MRT station (Blue Line) is the snazzy but unpresumptuous eatery, Mazendo. Mazendo is the perfect restaurant for an affordable business lunch or dinner. One can enjoy all of the urban suave associated with the East district of Taipei city, at a fraction of the usual cost that this posh area demands.
In a calming, minimal and modern space, expect traditional Taiwanese tastes. Though there are vegetarian options, best to be a meat eater to get the most out of Mazendo's Taiwanese menu. Mazendo is best known for its pot-sticker dumplings, spicy beef noodles (served fairly chewy) and fried rice. There are the very affordable spicy noodle soups, pot-sticker dumplings, and more for everyone to fill the hungry belly. Those traipsing the East district of Taipei can be hard-pressed to find an affordable place to eat. Mazendo is an excellent solution for anyone wanting a decently priced meal that isn't served in a fluorescent department store. The food at Mazendo is served with a smile and the service here is notably efficient - great if you're in a hurry to get somewhere. But take note, crowds impede speed during peak hours, when the queue is testament to Mazendo's popularity.
Mazendo is open everyday for lunch and dinner. As a location loved by professionals of the Guangfu district, Mazendo also offers the city-dweller's conveniences: the option of take-away, credit card facilities and a streamlined iPad ordering system.
