Museum of Contemporary Art
Taipei
Very popular among locals but not so with foreigners, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei (MOCA) leads the way in contemporary art. Situated in what was once Taipei City Hall, this building was originally built in the late 1910s as an elementary school.
Shows, galleries and exhibits are always running here as MOCA aims to bring both local and international contemporary art to the community. There are classes, lectures and workshops held here (though in Chinese) that aims to foster creativity among the participants.
Guided tours are held regularly. Group tours for groups of 20 people can be requested two weeks in advance. There are also audio guides available for free.
