For modern contemporary art lovers , Taipei Fine Arts Museum, located in Taipei city's Expo Park, is the place to go. Opened in 1983 as Taiwan's first modern art museum, this spacious museum has been a go-to place for the avant-garde where one can see stunning featured work by both local and international artists.

At a site previously occupied by the United States Taiwan Defense Command, Taipei Fine Arts Museum is constructed in the form of a pound sign - the architecture reflecting the influence of the Japanese Metabolist Movement. TFAM is a modern adaptation of the traditional shiyuan courtyard structure. Masterfully lit in the evenings, this beaming cultural beacon freqeuntly hosts prestigious locan and international exhibitions.

In addition to the number of exhibitions here, they have an extensive library  with art related publications and various rare books considered collector's items. The museum's civil contribution involves curating and holding exhibitions, overseeing the exchange of artworks with other museums abroad and accruing valuable art pieces, for the benefit of the Taipei community.

School field trips regularly march through the doorways of the museum, where educational exhibitions are held to introduce Taipei's younger generations to the principles and practices of fine art. A virtual reality art gallery mersmerizes visitors with three-dimensional interactive displays and acitvities.

Taipei Fine Arts Museum's webpage is very user-friendly. By viewing their website, visitors can see archives of what they've showcased and what they're currently exhibiting on view.

TFAM has its business hours from 10 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon from Tuesday to Sunday. The scenery surrounding the museum is beautiful. Benches sunken into sprawling lawns beneath dappled light make for idyllic picnic locations. Families visiting Taipei Fine Arts Museum on weekends, could stroll around the corner into Maji Maji Market for a selection of gourmet foods and designer goods. Parking is available.
