Tamsui Oxford College
Taipei
Not to be confused with it's famous English namesake, this small college was founded by the missionary Mackay in honor of his hometown and alma mater. It was used as a training facility for missionaries and medical staff in the hope they in turn would continue the work Mackay started.
The building itself has limited visiting hours, but visitors are free to roam the grounds at will. The building is European in style, but has strong Chinese elements, especially on the roof. For example, rather than crucifixes it boasts several stylized Buddhist temples as decoration. The college is near several other Tamsui attractions, and a walk through its grounds should be on any itinerary.
