Ice Monster began as a tiny Taipei city vendor. Years later, this mango mogul has evolved into an air-conditioned restaurant with seating and restrooms. Ice Monster almost always has potential patrons queueing nearby. Ice Monster serves a range of frozen treats and desserts. The comprehensive range of frozen, sugary delight are categorised on Ice Monster's menu. Avalanches refer to the old school treats that have been a long-time staple at Ice Monster. The Avalanche is shaved ice, topped with ice cream and the delicious fresh fruit of this tropical island. Newer items include Sensation, Mocktails and Freezes. The menu items are labelled in English, but the descriptions of menu items are in Chinese.
The Ice Monster has a fun aesthetic. Fluorescent lights and bright colours make this dessert bar somehow reminiscent of an American diner-style milkshake bar. This retro feel makes visitors half expect to see a waitress, wearing a cherry-red smile and roller skates, to whiz past with icy items on a tray at any moment.
Though there are a range of treats to try here, this dessert bar is best known for the frozen mango-flavoured delights that have made it famous. Be sure to try the mango-flavoured shaved ice, with fresh mango. If you're going to do it, do it right! The closest MRT station is Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
