Day Cruises in Taipei

If you’ve spent some time wandering Taipei’s streets, you might want to see the city from the water next. Day cruises around Taipei aren’t just touristy rides,they offer a chill way to catch the skyline, the riverside parks, and old fishing villages just outside the city. It’s a side of Taipei many miss, but it’s worth it.

One of my favorite trips starts along the Tamsui River. The boats slip past old docks, mangroves, and the occasional cargo ship, heading toward the ocean with a cool breeze and the faint smell of saltwater. You’ll spot locals fishing from the banks, old hawker stalls along the pier, and sometimes, if you’re lucky, a heron or two resting on a buoy. The cruises usually last a few hours, giving you time to relax without feeling rushed.

Here’s a tip: weekends can get busy, especially near the Fisherman’s Wharf area. If you want a quieter trip, go midweek and keep your phone handy for sunset photos,the golden hour here turns everything into a postcard. Oh, and bring some light snacks, or check out the small local markets before boarding, since some cruises don’t offer food onboard. Seeing Taipei’s coast floating by gives the city a completely different energy, one that I find surprisingly calming.
